International Colleges of Applied Nursing (ICAN) is a not-for-profit initiative, incorporated under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017, Pakistan, and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). Fully compliant with all regulatory requirements, ICAN was born out of a vision to redefine nursing education and build stronger healthcare systems across the country.
ICAN was founded and guided by Shabbir Nomanbhoy, a visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist with a remarkable track record in healthcare and technology ventures. With degrees from MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley, Shabbir has founded and successfully exited multiple companies, including Dyna Care Home Health and The Internet Drug Store. His leadership and commitment to advancing healthcare education have been pivotal in shaping ICAN’s mission and inspiring confidence among its advisors and supporters.
From the very beginning, ICAN has inspired the support of some of Pakistan’s most philanthropic and forward-thinking leaders, who have joined as advisors and advocates, believing in the mission to train globally competent healthcare professionals. Their guidance and endorsement have been instrumental in shaping ICAN’s path.
Today, ICAN is on the cusp of opening its first BS Nursing campus—a milestone that marks the start of a new era in healthcare education. With plans to expand to ten campuses across Pakistan, ICAN is determined to make world-class nursing education accessible to
students everywhere, creating a generation of professionals ready to make a real difference in communities nationwide.
